Turnitin
The institution power, already inside most university LMS systems.
Turnitin did not set out to be an AI detector, but because schools already pay for its plagiarism platform, its AI indicator arrived inside the workflow they already use. No new tool to adopt, no separate login; the AI score sits next to the familiar Similarity Report. Accuracy ranges from 77% to 98% depending on content type, and it performs best on standard model output. The serious concern is fairness: independent testing shows false-positive rates as high as 50% on ESL writers, a real equity problem for campuses with international students. It remains institutional-only, with no individual pricing.
