Pangram Labs
A research-driven detector built around keeping false positives extremely low.
Pangram Labs is a newer detector that made its name by attacking the problem most tools quietly tolerate: wrongly accusing human writers. Its pitch is a false-positive rate low enough to be usable in high-stakes settings, achieved by training on large volumes of paired human and model text rather than relying on perplexity heuristics alone. In practice that shows up as fewer panicked flags on formal, textbook-correct prose, which is exactly where non-native English writers get burned by older tools. It also returns sentence-level attribution, so you can see which passages drove the score instead of arguing with one number. The tradeoffs are maturity and access: it is less established than the incumbents, pricing is oriented toward institutions and API users rather than a casual monthly checker, and the interface is spare compared with consumer tools. Worth trying when the cost of a wrong accusation is high.
